The conspiracy theorists of the French website » ReOpen911, » who do not believe the official version of events on September 11, 2001 now have a hero : Christine Boutin, the French Housing and Urban Affairs Minister. Think about this : no less than a minister of the French government shares their hazy hypotheses. For the last few days, they have been sending out via e-mail, a clip from a web show hosted by Karl Zéro, a noted TV host, political gadfly and provocateur. The show was taped in November 2006, at the time when Boutin was just a zealous supporter of then-candidate Sarkozy. In it, she shares her doubts. To the question, » could Bush be behind the attacks ? » she responded quite matter-of-factly. » I think that it's possible. » (See the video of ReOpen911 below.)
Did our Housing and Urban Affairs Minister have important information about the subject ? Or maybe an impressive geo-strategic analysis ? No, the explanation that she gives on the subject is much more personal : » I think that it's possible. And I think it all the more so because I know that the sites that are talking about these problems are sites that get the most traffic. As someone who is quite sensitive to the problem of new practices of news and communication, It seems to me that this expression of the masses, coming from the people, can't be completely without truth. » The argument of » the masses, » to establish » truth, » that always gives you shivers down the spine, doesn't it ? Now that Boutin is in the government, this video and the irresponsible remarks in it are a little embarrassing. Certainly if ReOpen911 uses it as its main propaganda weapon. Think about how this sounds to American ears, and the headlines it could make.

I have met Christine BOUTIN a few years ago.
This was several monthes after she opposed, as a prominent catholic deputy, the homosexual lobby for some of the most controversial aspects of their general claim for wedding and same legal advantages as normal maried couples (private transports discounts, heritages, reputed solidarity when contracting and so forth).
She was promoting her propsal for « universal dividend » (DU), a kind of negative income. I was trying to understand better the nature and numbers of negative incomes. So I met her in one of her 100-people public meetings and spoke personaly with her. It appears that her DU proposal was an extreme maximisation (dilation ? ) of negative income, distributing to each one as welfare revenue the equivalent of the interest revenue of the capital defined as the total common heritage from past French generations following the theoretical computation acredited by her favorite local theoretician.
I have the memory of a woman of much good will endowed with some charism but with no special intellectual gift, about to fold completely facing the radical left propaganda on poverty, apprearing thoroughly disarmed whenever facing any requests for endless welfare rises and thus unbounded tax rises.
Since that time it seems that her remaining clearness facing socialist dialectic has continued to collapse. She now is the herald of « opposable right for housing » which means that welfare is about to be responsible for finding and financing a complete confortable modern personal home nearby for whoever request it after failing by own means. This new component of the unbounded welfare-do-it-for-myself wishes follows what is confusingly named « housing crisis » which means high prices and unsufficent offer for housing. This crisis comes from several unnamed problems such as suspitiously low mortgage rates (just as in other developped countries), outrageously restrictive urbanism, constraining rules for expulsing ill-payers thus treatening owners income, demographic changes, increases of early housing autonomy for youngs people from middle class families, population growth in the biggest agglomerations and more. France has tenth of unhoused people and hundred thousands of empty houses, but not in the same places. The analysis provided by Christine BOUTIN to the media about this crisis and its solution seems to be as poor as her analysis on 9/11.
By the way she seems to have turned from a goodwill woman into a mad sheep - made minister a few days ago.

The title of this article is rather ridiculous.
So she became an icon ? When ? Because of one sentence ? Because the reopen911 site mentions her ? This site is loaded with pseudo crummy journalists (not all of them, of course)…
So, when the truth (or part of it) comes out concerning 911 (as it will, i think, one day), what will we do with these « journalists » ? Have them get down on their knees and beg for forgiveness ?
Will they have the honor to consider hara kiri ? or will they just continue serving us crap for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as if nothing ever happened ? As if they didn't have they're (fair) share of responsability ?
